My Tia Rosa's House

A memory that sticks in my mind is when my whole family gathered at aunt Rosa’s house. We would gather there for every Christmas and New years. I can remember my dad and all my uncles drinking outside. There would always be a bonfire. My mom and tias were always inside, usually in the kitchen preparing food they would always talk so loud.
“mujeres se nos queman las tortillas”
I remember the smell of lamb meat, tamales and a lot of food. Another thing i can very much remember from my tias house is that all my cousins would be there. We all used to play around during the party. My cousins and I would go to the backyard of the house and wrestle we would do this almost every time there was partys at my tias. I can remember someone would always get hurt. My cousins and I would get in trouble. My dad and uncles would always tell us that when someone breaks a bone they were not going to help us out, they would just leave us there. We never believed them though so we always kept wrestling.
My dad was always very drunk dancing with my mom and tias. He would make the whole family laugh. There was always a lot of dancing. My mom would try to make dance but I was to shy to dance and I didn’t want all my cousins to see me. Another thing I clearly remember is that my uncle Jose would be throwing up and crying when he was drunk. Everyone made fun of him. At the end of the night there would always be a fight either with my tias or my uncles, arguing about the past and about life and problems in mexico.
At the end of the night, when most people had left it was only the people that were drunk that stayed to keep dancing and drinking. My mom would always get mad at my dad and she would take off. I always stayed with my dad. I felt like I had to be there. My tia would never let my cousins and I go outside anymore when the drunks kept on partying. Me and my cousins would all fall asleep in the same room. I can remember even though my cousins and I were all about 11 years old, we would all go steal some beers and drink them all in the room with my cousins it is something we always did at the end of a party.
I remember everything about my tia Rosa’s house very well. I also remember all the fruit trees in her back and front yard. There would always be so much people there, sometimes family or people i didn’t know. That house was never empty of lonely. This is one of my most vivid memories in my childhood. Every holiday my family and I would be at her house. There wasn’t a weekend when something wasn’t going on in my tias house. I can clearly remember the way her house looked and everything that was around it. I have had many memories i will not forget at my tia Rosa’s house.

  1. I love this story because this is how my family is well i think all mexicans families are like this haha. It brought me memories from my family too. How we would get together in my grandmother's house. I don't think this story needs a lot of changes. It has good details and it's in good paragraphs. The only think I would say is putting more dialogue in the story. Overall it was a really good story because it brought me memories of my childhood too

  2. This story pretty much tells how my family is. I can relate to this in every little detail given. If I was to write about this in my childhood story, I would just add more about problem and how are family has grow and cousins getting in trouble.
Over all this story is in good conditions, but i consider not using " I REMEMBER" in every sentence or paragraph. Like Selene Siller said, a little more dialogue in your story about how you guys didn't get caught drinking, how the fights started with your family.
