As a kid growing up, I always enjoyed being considered above average
than most students in my class. It was very different back then when I
was in elementary then how it is now. The school was about six blocks
away from my house. My parents always had very different perspectives in
me walking to and from school. My dad didn’t mind me walking to and
from school until I was in 4th grade. My mom, on the other hand, has
always been overprotected and she didn’t let me at all throughout all
six years in elementary. It bothered me a little bit because all my
friends walked and even some that lived further than me.
I
remember every morning waking up to get ready to go to school. The
smell of the cold breeze every morning flowing through the windows of my
room. The sound of hearing nothing but myself breathing. The feeling of
being tired and not wanting to go to school. I still remember hearing
my mom yell out “Time to go to school” every morning. My mom would
always take me about five to ten minutes early and the doors didn’t open
till 8am every morning so I had to wait outside with other people,
including my friends.
School
work wasn’t what was exciting about elementary. It was the about being
with your friends and having good times. What was the most fun out of
everything in school was recess. Recess was the only fifteen minutes of
fun we’d have in school and what made it fun was not only to get away
from schoolwork for a while, but it was fun because of the fact that I
would always get together with my friends and compete against in others
in the most popular game at the time, kickball. As a kid, everything was
about competition, from school work, to outdoor activities. With all
the energy I had as kid, everything was more fun that it is now. I still
remember I’d be in a team with my friends and we’d never lose no matter
what competed against us.
I
still live in the exact same place of when I use to go to Frances
Willard. I’ve visited the school a couple of times recently, to catch up
with the teachers that helped me further my education. Teachers that
have been there since the start of my first year, and knowing the fact
that they’re still teaching. There has been a dramatic change in the
school. The school itself has had many improvements in construction,
such as It’s nearly tripled its size. The population had only gotten
bigger within the time that’s passed by. The education now offers much
more activities and programs that help students way of learning. It’s
exciting to see how much difference and improvement there’s been after
nearly 12 years.
While reading this story that you have written i noticed that I went to the same elementary school as you did. It was pretty impressing because I didn't think anybody from this class would write about that elementary school, who would've thought somebody from Mrs. Gray's class would write about this. But to me I felt that it brought me back memories, childhood memories, great memories and fun memories. the positive things about what you have written was that you catch up with your teachers that you use to have to further your education. The one one part that needs to be corrected was "School work wasn’t what was exciting about elementary.", that sentence to me doesn't make sense.
ReplyDeleteWhen I stared reading this story I stared remembering when I use to go to school back in the day. I also went to francés willard so I know how you feel about it. I also had fun at that School so when I was reading it I was remembering things that I also did at that school. I still remeber when I use to play in the play ground with my friends. I think its true what you said about how students compete with each other. In my opinion I think that you did a good gob at writing this paper.
ReplyDeleteYeah, i also went to the school. It brought back some of my own memories of playing games in recess & the fun we'd have in the class. I agree every thing about elementary school was fun. I enjoyed reading your story. Because it made me think back on my own childhood memories, nice work.
ReplyDeleteWhile reading this story it brought me back all the memories i had when i went to Frances Willard. i can agree with you about recess being the best and most part of elementary school. i can also remember the recess days whether it was playing kickball, soccer or foursquare. overall great story. good structure and everything.
